What’s In-Store For 2026

2026 is a year of big change for us. We have not only relocated from Australia to Ireland, but also quit our corporate jobs to take a career break and spend the next 12 months travelling the world.

Our gap year, or first retirement as Ross likes to call it, has been born out of 3 things. The first is wanting to create memories that we can cherish for (hopefully) a very long time. While we have been fortunate enough to travel alot while maintaining full time corporate careers, we decided to take this break while we are both finanially and physically able to, and before moving into whatever stage of life comes next. You never know what’s around the corner and so we chose ourselves; taking a very well earned break to live life.

Secondly, over the past few years I (Kelly) have found corporate life unfulfilling.

Sitting down in front of a computer screen for 8 hours a day was leaving me with a constant ache in my chest; a feeling that where I spent the majority of my time and emotional energy was ultimately pointless.

Whilst I have had alot of great experiences and met some brilliant people, I just wasn’t doing what made me happy. I also feel as though I wasn’t using my strategic marketing brain to promote good things, so I hope to use this year to figure out how I want to exist in the world.

Lastly, I have itchy feet. We are in a very different lifestage to the majority of those around us; I had very different experiences and challenges (as many of us have) throughout my 20’s and I am not ready to do what is expected of someone their 30’s.

I want to use this time to expand my life experience in meaningful ways, embrace the unique parts of myself and grow as a person. I want to try new hobbies, eat new foods, hear new music, meet new people, observe new sights, smell new smells, and with some luck, spy some animals.

I will forever be grateful that I found love of my life when I did, and that he embodies the parts of me I wish I had. I am lucky that he is fully on board and as excited for this journey as I am. We want to embrace spontaneity, the choas of travel, and see where the wind takes us. To put it simply- be wherever we are happiest.

One more note before I go- I wanted to provide some context as to why we started this blog and what makes us different. I know there are thousands of people with travel blogs. I know there are many people who have done or are doing what we are, but there are some key differences you’ll come to notice.

I am not a backpacker, not an adrenaline junkie, can’t afford business class tickets and not someone who is interested in getting blackout drunk at a nightclub. Of course there’s nothing wrong with any of those experiences and you should always do what makes you happy, it’s just not me.

I exist somewhere in the middle. I am someone who is very sentimental, reads books, listens to metalcore music, a fan of stand-up comedy, passionate about history, thrives on making lists, always down to go to the pub, adores dogs, is learning to knit, loves to cook and finds chopping vegetables therapeutic. I am also uncoordinated, terrified of insects, can feel lost sometimes, have an overactive sense of self preservation, can’t sit still, gets to the airport 3 hours prior to depature- the list goes on really.

I started this blog to not only have an archive of our experiences and escape from corporate life, but also to provide recommendations or inspire others who are like us. So if you find something familar in us and want to follow along then please connect!
